For a few months each summer, Ios is still turned into a 24-hour party. Not as much as it used to be. During mid and low season, however, Ios is a quiet and peaceful island. In recent years, hotels have been built that cater to a more mature target group. The beaches are almost as nice and child-friendly as in Naxos and hopefully more adults and families will discover Ios because the island has so much to offer. There are some interesting sights and a very beautiful countryside with great hiking opportunities. Ios is one of the finest islands in the world and is really worth a visit.
You can travel to Ios with a charter company. Either a complete trip with accommodation or an airplane seat and then book accommodation separately. You fly to Santorini and from there you take a boat to Naxos, which takes about 1.5 hours.
It is also possible to fly scheduled to Ios. You fly to Santorini and then on by boat to Ios.
